Regenerated plants contained diploids, tetraploids and mixoploidy. 44.5% from clone `Weißer Liebling` and 68.0% of regenerates from explants of clone `Kleiner Liebling` 5/74/2 were plants with diploid chromosome number. The results showed that diploids had an advantage by competition between the different ploidy cells during shoot development, i.e. diploid Selection Phenomena. Diploid shoots were possibly produced not only from the double of the haploid origin, but also from the somatic reduction of the polyploid origin.
