Vol No Engineering of Surveying and M apping M ay T P A Fast building reconstruction based on a layered Method using TLS data WA N Yi ing XI Xiaohuan WEN Qi WA NG Cheng WA N G Fang ian p j Key Lab of Digital Earth Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth Chinese Academy of Sciences Beijing China U niversity of Chinese Academy of Sciences Beijing China National Disaster Reduction Center of the M inistry of Civil Aff airs Beijing China Abstract T he objectives of this research aim to present a lay ered method to reconstruct building models f rom T errestrial Laser Scanning T LS data and to improve the efficiency of building reconstruction g reatly Firstly statistic histogram method is used to filter noisy data Secondly due to mo st building s w ith regular f eatures the point s cloud data are layered to diff erent overlapping lay ers and projected vertically to the average height of each layer thus the building boundary point s of each lay er being ex tracted T hirdly by regularizing these boundary point s and connecting all lay ers the building model is established quickly Ex periment s show that the boundary point s ex traction based on layered method can achieve good result s f or mo st building s reconstruction and it f acilitates the complicated procedures of traditional method such as point s cloud rasterization and planar surf ace segmentation w hich w ill co st lo t s of operations during reconstruction procedures Key words terrestrial laser point s cloud lay ered method building model D reconstruction
