Teaching aims:
1. Learn the new words in section A: post office, library, restaurant, bank, supermarket, street, pay phone, park, avenue, center, bridge, mail, there.
2. Learn the structure “there be” and prepositions of position: near, across, next to, in front of, behind, between.
3. Be able to ask for and give direction.
Teaching procedure:
Step1:
1. Revise the language points in the previous unit.
2. Free talk about their pen pal.
Step2:
1. Show a picture or map. Ask students to name the places they can see.
2. Write the new words on the board and ask the students to pronounce them correctly.
3. Get the students to match the words with the places in the picture in 1a.And check the answer.(1-f, 2-a, 3-e, 4-i, 5-c, 6-b, 7- h, 8-g, 9-d)
4.Listen to the recording and get the students to circle the place in 1a they hear. Then check the answers.(4,1,6)
5.Listen again and answer the following questions:
