DS are non-drug substances but food ingredients required for normal body function. The intake of DS does not intend to diagnose, cure or treat diseases but to maintain and improve health and well being of people at all ages. Due to lack of a general legislation like the DSHEA in USA, DS need a registration as “food” or “particular nutrition” in most countries to make safe claims.
