In order to examine the mechanical performance of the shell, a model of the shell is designed and manufactured to be tested under hydrostatic pressure and measure the stresses. The relation between the stresses of combined sphere-cylinder shell and external pressure is obtained through studying the stress distribution rule of the shell. The stress concentration at the junction of the shell is verified and the stress concentration factor is obtained as 1.4 by using the experimental data.
