Objective T o explore surg ica l treatment of the cerv ica l sp ina l cord com pression. Methods F rom A ugu st 2003 to N ovem ber 2008, 30 cases o f cerv ica l spina l co rd com pression w e re treated in Be ij ing Y anqing H o spita l and from December 2008 to Sep tember 2009, 35 cases of cerv ica l sp inal co rd compression w ere treated in Be ijing J ishu itan H osp ital w ith different kind o f surg ical treatment. A ll the patients w ere fo llow ed up. Results T h ir ty cases received anter ior decompression, another 30 cases rece ived poster ior decom pression and 5 cases rece ived anter ior and poste rio r approach stage 1 com bined su rgery. T he 65 patients w ere follow ed up for 9 m onths to 5 years( average 3. 3 years in outpa tient department o r by te lephone.
