AsianJournalofAndrology(2014)16，892—896 @ 2014AJA．SIMM ＆SJTU Allrightsreserved1008—682X www．asiaandrocom；www．ajandrologycom 签薹番 l斓嚣 OpenAccess ORIGINALARTICLE Impactofpenilerehabilitationwithlow ·d·ose vardenafilonrecoveryoferectilefunctionin Japanesemenfollowingnerve--sparingradical prostatectomy YuzoNakano，HideakiMiyake，KojiChiba，MasatoFujisawa Erectiledysfunction(ED)isamajorcomplicationafterradicaIprostatectomy(RP)；however，debatecontinuesregardingtheefficacy ofpen_lerehabilitationintherecoveryofthepostoperativeerectilefunction(EF)．Thisstudyincludedatotalof103consecutive sexuallyactiveJapanesemenwithIocalizedprostatecancerundergoingnerve-~；paringRP．andanalyzedthepostoperative EF,focusingonthesignificanceofpenilerehabilitation．Inthisseries．24 and 79patientsunderwentbilateraIandunilateraI nerve．sparingRPs．respectively,and10or20mgofvardenafi1wasadministeredto35patientsatIeastonceweekly,whoagreed toundergopenilerehabilitation。TwelvemonthsafterRP’48(46．6％)ofthe103patientswerejudgedtohaverecoveredEF su仟icientforsexuaIintercoursewithoutanyassistance．TheproportionofpatientswhorecoveredEFinthoseundergoingpenile rehabilitation(60．0％)wassignificantlygreaterthanthatinthosewithoutpenilerehabiIitation(38．2％)．0fseveraIparameters examined．thepreoperativelnternationallndexofErectileFunction-5(川：F-5)scoreandnerve-sparingprocedureweresignificantly associatedwiththepostoperativeEFrecoveryratesinpatientswithandwithoutmanagementbypenilerehabilitation．respectively． Furthermore。univariateanalysisidentifiedthepreoperative IlEF-5 score。nerve-sparingprocedureandpenilerehabilitation as significantpredictorsofEFrecovery．amongwhichthepreoperative llEF-5scoreandnerve-sparingprocedureappearedtobe independentlyassociatedwithEFrecovery．Consideringthesefindings。despitethelackofindependentsignificance，penile rehabilitationwithIow．dosevardenafiIcouldexertabeneficialeffectOnEFrecovery
