The new efficient catalysts for Heck reactions and the applications in organic synthesis have been developed greatly these years. T his review summarizes the progression using palladium compounds as catalysts in Heck reactions, including homogeneous and heterogeneous palladium catalysts. Homogeneous catalyzed system in cludes the palladium catalyst system with phosphoric, sulphur, nitrogen compounds and NHC as ligands; heteroge neous palladium catalyzed system can be divided with different carriers, including activated carbon, metal oxides, mesoporous supports and modified silica etc. .
