Beijing Phoenix Furnace Limited Company, Beijing 102600, China) Abstract: A comprehensive mathematical model for simulating the gas circulation, heat transfer and slab heating-up process in a reheating furnace is developed. The model consists of k-tw o-equation model for turbulenct flow , dis- crete transfer model for radiation process, and modified BU model for gas combustion. The slab heating-up process is calculated by implicit algorithm. The results show that the temperature of upper region is higher than that of low- er region in soaking section, and the temperature generally becomes low er from heating section to preheating sec- tion. The temperature of central region is higher than that of low er region after the slab enters the soaking section, the calculated maximum temperature difference is located at the water-cooled beams and temperature difference at exit is 72 .
