Chaoshanese, a typical southern Chinese population residing in east Guangdong Province, is an admixture of the Central China Han and southern indigenous ethnic groups according to autosomal STR analyses in our previous study. To further investigate the Y chromosomes of Chaoshanese and their genetic affinity with other Chinese populations in the paternal lineage, we collected and analyzed six Y-STR loci data of 6292 individual samples from 51 populations, combining data of Chaoshanese and Minnamese of our studies and various East Asian populations from other studies. The admixture analysis demonstrated that more than 85% of Chaoshanese Y chromosomes derived from Central China (MRH : 0.86; MBE : 1.19 ± 0.21), and very little proportion from the southern indigenous populations, which confirmed again the Central China
