Abstract: An intelligent method named variable metric hybrid genetic algorithm w as int roduced in order to optim ize
1780 mm hot strip mills, and the optimizat ion results show that optimized schedule is better than that w as used
and the rolling force or motor pow er distribution mode is bett er than reduct ion load distribution mode in keeping
optimizat ion performance w hen strip production changes within hierarchy range.
