Effect of short-range electron correlations in dynamic transport in a Luttinger liquid V. A. Sablikov and Yasha Gindikin Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Fryazino, Moscow District, 141120, Russia (February 1, 2008) The density operator in the Luttinger model consists of two components one of which describes 9 long-wave fluctuations and the other, charge density wave (CDW) component, describes short- 9 range electron correlations. It is commonly believed, that the conductance is determined by the 9 1 smooth component, and the CDW component is addressed to only when an impurity is present. We investigate the contribution of the CDW component to the dynamic density response of a one- p dimensional system free from any impurities. The conventional form of the CDW density operator is e shown not to conserve the number of particles in the system. The corrected CDW density operator S devoid of this shortcoming is proposed. The contribution of the CDW component to dissipative 6 conductance is found to dominate over that of the long-wave component in the case when the 1d conductor is locally disturbed by a low-frequency potential. ] l e PACS numbers: 71.10.Pm, 72.15.Nj, 73.23.Ad - r t s .
