Abstract: Th is paper investigated the effect of ginsenosides ( four ginsenoside m ixtures includ ing total ginsenosides, panaxad iol ginsenosides, panaxatriolginsenosides, ginsenosides-Rb group, and twom onom er ginsenosides- ginsenoside-Rb3 and ginsenoside-Re) on the germ inating of ginseng seeds, the root length of seedlings, the fresh weights, the activity of antiox idant enzym e in radicles and the content ofMDA in vitro. Results have shown that: the above ginsenosides all had inhibitory effects on seed germ inating, the growth of seedling roots and the fresh w eight, w ith the inhib itory effect increasing w ith treatm ent concentration. The SOD, POD and CAT activity in ginseng roots all increased when treated by total ginsenosides, panaxadiol ginsenosides and panaxatriolginsenosides at various concentrations, ind icating that the activ ities of enzym es increasew ith concentration.
