The Current Situation and Deliberate of National Music Education in Primary and Secondary Schools Under the New Curriculum Shenyang as An Example Abstract The new curriculum is the Ministry of Education started a new round of basic education course reform in 1999. The purpose is to make the education to adapt to the social development and the requirements of quality education. Two years later, the Ministry of Education issued The Basic Education Curriculum Reform Outline, which provisions the goal and contacts of the basic education curriculum reform. Now, education of primary and secondary schools including the music course are all under the new curriculum. The Music Course Standard of The Compulsory Education is adhering to the concept of the new curriculum reform, and gives the music course new meanings. “Expanding the national music and understanding the musical culture diversity” is one of the concepts of The Music Course Standard of The Compulsory Education. We could see the music education have paid more and more attention to inherit and expand the national music. Primary and secondary school students are on their basic stage of life and at their golden age. The formation of their values and outlook on life at this time will affect their whole life. The national music education should start from an early age. Teachers should let them listen to and learn national music, find the beauty of it, and develop their ability to appreciate it. By studying and exploring the national spirit of music, developing the patriotic emotion, they must assume the responsibility of inheriting and expanding the national music in the future.
