During the development of the American higher education, the theories, functions and system of student affairs turned perfect gradually with the pupularization and marketrization of American higher education, and eventually formed the student affairs administration profession. It took a century for the formation of student affairs administration profession, and there was some reasons and a process in the formation. This paper try to study the professionalization of student affairs adminstration in American higher education through analysing its history and forming process. Thepaper also analyse the current state of the development of the specialization of the Chinese student affairs adminstration in higher education and put forward some suggestions for the development of the specialiaztion of the Chinese student affairs administrationinhigher education.
