内容摘要 本文是一篇针对法律英语文本中条件状语从句翻译的报告。译者搜集的十万字翻译 材料涵盖了法条、司法文书、案例等各类法律文本。这些法律文本中出现了大量主要由 if, where, when 引导的条件状语从句，特别是在《新泽西州地方公共合同法》中，这些 条件从句尤其集中。由于条件从句是法律文本中的一种基本句子形态，因此在法律英语 翻译的实践中，条件从句翻译质量的好坏在一定程度上也直接影响着整个译文的质量。 但经过查阅大量资料，译者发现目前关于条件从句的翻译，大多学术著作暂时还没有介 绍具体的翻译策略。因此译者通过分析自己的翻译材料和总结法律翻译前辈的经验，从 分析法律英语文本条件从句的特点入手，总结出了一些具体翻译方法。 该翻译报告由四部分组成。第一部分是引言，主要介绍译者在翻译材料中遇到的 大量条件状语从句及其在法律英语翻译中的重要性。第二部分分析英语法律文本和中文 法律文本中条件句的显隐性特点以及引导词引导的条件句在整个句子结构中的位置特 点，同时以《美国统一商法典》、《中华人民共和国海商法》和《中华人民共和国合同 法》中引导词的显隐性及其位置统计数据为例证。第三部分根据第二部分的特点分析总 结出翻译策略，即调换引导词位置和将显性条件转换为隐性条件，然后将这些策略运用 到《新泽西州地方公共合同法》具体句子的翻译中。该部分是本报告的重点。第四部分 是结语部分，译者对翻译中的经验教训和待解决问题进行了总结。 关键词：《新泽西州地方公共合同法》；条件从句；翻译策略 Abstract This is a translation report on adverbial clause of condition. The materials translated by the author covers a wide range of legal documents, including regulations and rules, complaints, answers, legal briefs, contracts and so on, in which exists quite a lot of adverbial clauses of condition , especially in New Jersey Local Public Contracts Law. Since adverbial clause of condition is one of the basic sentence structures in legal documents, the translation of these clauses, to a large extent, determines the quality of the whole text of translation. After reading some related academic works, however, the author finds that there are few specific translation skills related to the translating of adverbial clause of condition. Thus, this report summarizes some translation skills on the basis of the respective features of adverbial clauses of conditions in English and in Chinese. This report is composed of four parts. The first part gives a brief introduction to the large number of adverbial clause of condition appearing in the materials translated by the author and their importance in legal documents.
