Primary study on the potato scab in China

Abstract: The t bers w hich diseased w ith potato scab w ere collected from 10 provinces in China,
and the scab symptoms w ere described. Eighty Str ep tomyces strains were isolated from scab lesions.
Three kinds of the pathogenicity tests showed that 30 Str ep t omyces strains w ere pathogenic. Inoc
lation w ith pathogenic strains ind ced scab symptoms in potato, prod ced necrotic reaction on t ber
slices, and significantly red ced shoot height of radish seedlings. T he res lts show ed that the t ber
slice bioassay and the radish seedling test w ere s itable for identifying pathogenic St rep tomyces
strains.
