China—USA BusinessReview ISSN 1537-1514 March2014．Vo1．13．No．3．172-177 酋 Ll誊 14,lN 《 TrendsinPolishCooperativeBankingSectoras ：l： SeenbyItsManagem ent RafatBalina，OlafKowalski，JerzyRdZyfiski，KrystianMalesa W arsaw University ofLifeSciences—SGGW ，W arsaw，Poland Thepaperraisestheimportanceofidentifying futurechallengesforthecooperativebanksofPoland by their management．Recentstudiesindicatethatthemanagersofcooperativebanksraewellawareoftheneedtoadapting worldtrendspertainingtonew computersystemswhichincreasebankproficiencyaswellasclientsatisfaction． Studiesindicatethateventhoughcooperativebnakshavea localrangeofactivity，theyrecognizetheneedto improvecustomerservice．Furthermore，Polish cooperativebankstendtomarginalize，toacertaindegree，their statusasacooperativeandinsteadadvocateamorecommercialimage． Keywords：cooperativebank，cooperativeprinciples，growthfactors IntrOductiOn Theideaofcooperativesexpandsincertaincountriesandfadesawayinothers；Polnad’sexperienceshows decrepitudeandstagnation．andthisconditionmustchange．Eithercooperativebanksmustadvanceortheywill simply disappear．AsofDecember，2012，Polandhad 572functioningcooperativebanks，ofwhich206were associated with SGB Bank SA ofPoznaft，365with BPS SA ofWarszawa．and one．KrakowskiBank Sp6tdzielczy，remained independent．The ratingsofthese cooperative banksand associated bankshave improvedoflateandcanbeconsideredsignifcantplayersinPolishbanking．Theimportofthesecooperative banksandtheirassociateswerereflected
