Clinical Study on Characteristics of Post-Hemorrhagic Stroke Epileptic Seizures with Combination of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Specialty: Nervous system disease, Internal Medicine of TCM Author: Lin Yu Tutor: Prof. Yu Ming G Abstract Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics of post-hemorrhagic stroke epileptic seizures from the traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine angles respectively. Methods: We chose 345 patients of hemorrhagic stroke treated in the second affiliated hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2006 to December 2010 and collected their related clinical information. The data of 37 patients with secondary epileptic seizure were retrospectively analyzed to find out the clinical characteristics of post-hemorrhagic stroke epileptic seizures. Results: The incidence of post-hemorrhagic stroke epileptic seizures is 10.72%. The incidence of epileptic seizures after intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage is respectively 10.44% and 13.97%. The incidence of epileptic seizures with the bleeding location of cortex and subcortex is respectively 21.43% and 8.08%. Among 37 patients of post-hemorrhagic stroke epileptic seizures, 72.97% had early-onset in 2 weeks and 27.03% had late-onset after 2 weeks. 70.27% of the 37 cases were generalized seizures. Among 37 patients, “tan re nei bi” were the most common (60%). The incidence of epileptic seizures after “tan re nei bi” stroke is the highest (24.44%) among the Syndromes of TCM.
