Abstract:Many college students find that it is very easy to acquire or learn first language, but they think it is quite difficult to learn English. So, as English teacher, we should know the differences between first language acquisition and English learning. At the same time we may find out some rules and insight from the study of first language acquisition.

Many college students find that it is very easy to acquire or learn first language, but they think it is quite difficult to learn English. So, as English teacher, we should know the differences between first language acquisition and English learning. With the increased pace of research on first language acquisition has attracted the attention not only of linguists of all kinds but also of educators in various language-related fields. The children acquire their first language easily and well, yet the learning of English, often meets with many difficulties and sometimes failure. What may be quite as obvious is how English learning teachers should interpret the hundreds of facets of first language theory. How does each facet relate to English learning and teaching? Maybe, you can make your own explanation and draw your own conclusion about the theories in first language acquisition. But on the other hand, it is very easy to draw false analogies. So we should learn something correct from a systematic study of the first language acquisition and we must establish of the parameters and for comparing and contrasting of first language acquisition and English learning. Here I just speak out my cognition from the study of the first language acquisition.
