Clinical Observation of the Transient Analgesic Effect with Bloodletting Therapy on the Treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis SPeciality: Acupuncture and moxibustion Author: Du Ruosang Tutor: Pro.Hou Shuwei Abstract Objective: With the purpose of providing a simple,effective and inexpensive method for treating Knee Osteoarthritis,this study is to compare bloodletting therapy with routine acupuncture and find which is more superior in relieving pain in a short time. Methods: 60 cases observed were randomly divided into two groups: the treatment group and the control group;both of them had 30 cases. The treatment group took bloodletting therapy on abnormal superficial venules or Weizhong(BL40) of the affected side if there wasn’t any abnormal superficial venules. While the control group took routine acupuncture by needling the points of affected side:Ashi ,Dubi(ST35),Neixiyan(LE4), Xuehai (SP10),Liangqiu(ST34),Yanglingquan(GB34) ,Yinlingquan(SP9),Zusanli(ST36),San yinjiao (SP6). The short form of McGill pain question(SF-MPQ) was used to display the changes of the scores of patients before and after the treatment. Results: By comparing the indicators of SF-MPQ before and after the treatment of the two groups,there was significant difference(P ＜0.05) among the indicators of PRI,VAS,PPI and T. By comparing the indicators of SF-MPQ after the treatment of the two groups,there was significant difference(P ＜0.05) among the indicators of PRI,VAS,PPI,T and T . Conclusion: Both groups can relieve pain significantly,but the transient analgesic effect of the treatment group is obviously superior to that of the control group.
