Clinical Research on Self-made Gouteng Decoction in Treating Primary Hypertension with Syndrome of Yin Deficiency and Yang Hyperactivities of the elder Specialty: Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine Author: Zhou Jianghong Tutor: Zhang Shiliang Abstract Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of self-made gouteng decoction in treating primary hypertension with syndrome of yin deficiency and yang hyperactivities of the elder. To study the functioning theory of self-made gouteng decoction with the purpose of supplying clinic and theoretic basis for the popularizing and exploiting the medicine as well as benefiting hypertension patients. Methods: 60 patients with hypertension were randomly divided into two groups: 30 patients in treatment group and 30 patients in control group. The treatment group was treated with self-made gouteng decoction and losartan potassium tablets, meanwhile in the control group, the patients took losartan potassium tablets for four weeks as a course of treatment. After four weeks the result is observed. Result: The comprehensive comparison after the two types of treatment: The total effective rate of the two groups has got statistic significance after analyzing (P0.05). The treatment group is more effective than the control group .It has obvious effect on lowering the blood pressure (BP), improving the general symptoms and improving hemorheolgy. The conclusion is the recurring rate of the control group is higher than that of the treatment group. Conclusion: The comprehensive curative effect of self-made gouteng decoction in the treating of hypertension, cumulative scoring of clinic symptom, is much better than Qin
