通过《喜宴》和《断背山》看中美同性恋 A Comparison of Chinese and American Homosexuality through The Wedding Banquet and Brokeback Mountain 【Abstract】Though there is a small quantity of the movies with homosexuality as the theme, every one of them is thought-provoking and makes the public pay more attention to the homosexual. By taking the stories of gays as the theme, Ang Lee’s The Wedding Banquet and Brokeback Mountain show the audiences the attitudes of Chinese and Americans toward homosexuality. This paper attempts to makes a comparison of Chinese and American homosexuality through The Wedding Banquet and Brokeback Mountain. From the comparison, it is found that the sadness of love is the same theme in the two movies, and the emphasis on family ethics in The Wedding Banquet and the emphasis on individual’s love and marginal culture reflect the differences between Chinese and American homosexuality. Though America was known as gay paradise to Chinese people, the acceptance of homosexuality is not as highly as people imagine. It attributes to religion and ingrained stereotype, especially in western America, people not only have prejudice against homosexuality but also hatred. In China, the priority of marriage is to carry on the family line, but they cannot even deliver a baby, futhermore, the law of gay mrriage has still not been passed. It is hoped that this paper can make readers get a deeper understanding of The Wedding Banquet and Brokeback Mountain and Chinese and American homosexuality reflected in them. 【Key words】 homosexuality, The Wedding Banquet, Brokeback Mountain, similarity, differences 【摘要】以同性恋为主题的电影虽然数量不多，但是每一部电影都发人深省，让大众给予同性恋者更多的关注。李安的《喜宴》和《断背山》以同性恋者的故事为主题，向观众展示了中国人和美国人对待同性恋的态度。本文试图通过《喜宴》和《断背山》这两部电影来对比中美同性恋。通过对比，本文发现爱之悲是这两部电影的异曲同工之处，而《喜宴》中对家庭伦理的侧重以及《断背山》对个人爱情和边缘文化的侧重则体现了中美同性恋的不同之处。被中国人称为同志天堂的美国，同性恋的接纳程度并没有想象中那么高。主要原因有宗教和根深蒂固的旧观念，尤其在西部某些州，人们对同性恋除了鄙夷，还带有仇视。而在中国，传宗接代被视作是婚姻头等大事，而在同性恋婚姻还没有合法化的中国，同性恋婚姻不能生儿育女。希望本文的研究可以使读者对《喜宴》和《断背山》这两部电影以及电影中所体现的中美同性恋有更深刻的理解。 【
