The small poor country is known to suffer from very serious natural disasters. A lack of proper emergency services has resulted in the death of thousands of Haitians. People said the damage was shocking. Tens of thousands of people are to be homeless. The Presidential Palace stands in ruins. Rescue vehicles, which did their best to get through, were slowed down in their attempts to get the wounded to hospital by all the rocks lying on the road.
