The Comparative Analysis of English Textbooks
Abstract: The two versions of textbooks basically satisfy the needs of users’. They have their own features. However, no textbooks are perfectly compiled and meet the interests of all language learners. Teachers ought to spare no pains bringing the gap between textbooks and students so as to maximize learning potential.

1. Introduction
With the implementation of the new English National Curriculum Standards, more and more authoritative presses issue their own Textbooks, such as Senior English for China (SEC) published by the People’s Educational Press and the New Standard English (NSE) published by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.
All kinds of textbook have their advantage and disadvantage. How to treat and use them? It is a problem that English educational officer has to consider.
This paper tries to analysis the arrangement of textbook by comparing of Senior English for Chia (SEC) and New Standard English (NSE).
2. The Brief Introduction of the textbooks of two versions
Senior English for China is published by the People’s Educational Press. From 1988 to 1991, the government of China and United Nation Develop Program reached an agreement that the People’s Educational Press and the Longman Publishing Group cooperate to compile Senior English for China, which is subsidized by the United Nation Development Program. Since the year of 1993, this version of textbook has been popularized throughout the country. The length of time and the number of its users are very huge. Apart from the political factor, a high quality contributes to its popularity.
New Standard English is published by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. Based on the national English curriculum standard, the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and the Macmillan Publishers Limited cooperate to compile this version of textbook. It is a set of textboo
