To practice using linking words and expressions. To practice using the structure: the more…,the more…. To write a letter of complaint. Teaching important points: To arouse students’ interest in learning English. To improve their writing abilities. To introduce group work gradually. Teaching difficult points: Some students may not find it as easy as others to make complaints. 重难点突破: 通过反复练习,培养学生的写作技巧,并适当的复习连词的用法,以加强学生写作时的文章连贯意识。 注重对一些语法知识点的灵活运用。 Teaching methods: Pair work or group work to make every student work in class. Teaching aids: computer and cassette Blackboard designing:见教学课件 Teaching procedures: Step 1: Greetings and warming up. T: Look at the advertisement on Page 26 and guess what is “Tour de France”. S: T: Yes, very good! It’s a kind of exercise bike, but is the advertisement real? S: T: OK! Class, Listen to me! Today we are going to learn a letter of complaint about “Tour de France”, and then you will know whether the advertisement is real or not. Step 2: Reading. Task 1: T: OK! Class, Now I’d like to give you 5 minutes to read the whole letter, and then I hope you can answer the questions on the screen: Why does Jeffreys complain for “Tour de France” ? According to Jeffreys’s letter, do you know how to solve this problem? (Five minutes later check the answers) T: OK! Stop! Now let’s check the answers: Answers for Exercise 1: He has been using the bike for a month in order to lose weight, but he seems to put on weight instead of losing weight. Answers for Exercise 2: I would like to refund his money as soon as possible and pay compensation for the injuries that he has received.
