The strings make different sounds, from high to low. The pitch of a note (how high or low it is) depends on the thickness of a string, how long it is and how tight it is. In addition, foot pedals can also be used to make the sound louder or softer. The right foot pedal can make the sound louder. The left pedal can make the sound softer. When a person presses a foot on the left pedal it shortens the distance between the hammer and the string. The hammer hits the string more gently. This makes the sound softer. When a person presses a foot on the right pedal it keeps the damper away from all strings. That makes the sound louder. ;7. A piano is a wonderful instrument.
