To be able to express how to go shopping in English. To know children’s lives in poor areas. To learn how to help them. Key and difficult teaching points Aim 2 and 3 Teaching aids Tape-recorder, PPT Teaching procedures Step 1 Leading-in Talk about “pocket money” with the students. Ask: Do you have any pocket money? Talk about how they use their pocket money. 1 Who will give you pocket money? 2 What do you often buy with your pocket money? 3 Will you use your pocket money to buy presents for your friends or your parents? Have a report. Step 2 Listening to Part A1 Have a guess: What do Simon and his friends often buy with their pocket money? Listen to the tape and finish part A1. Check the answers. Step 3 Listening to Part A2 1. Talk about the Children in poor areas in China: 1 What do you think they need most? 2 What can we do to help them? 2. Listen to part A2 for the first time. Choose what the children need. Listen to the tape again. Complete the reasons. 3. Check the answers. Step 4 Post-listening 1. Give students one minute to complete Simon’s letter with the information in Part A2. 2.Check the answers. 3.Read the passage. And ask the students if they have any questions. Step 5 Speak up 1. Present the new words and phrases: a pair of, size, price, expensive…… 2. Listen to the conversation. Questions: 1 What would Simon like to buy? 2 What’s Simon’s size? 3 How much are they? 3. Open the books and read the conversation. 4. Work in pairs or work in groups of three. Use the information in Part B2 to make new conversations. 5. Act them out. Step 6 Homework 1. Complete the exercises in the exercise book. 2. Read and recite the important phrases and sentences.
