* What is widely acknowledged, by both Aboriginal communities and educators is that Aboriginal students are achieving at a much lower rate than other students in the province. – Rozanski Report (2002) Aboriginal children and youth are some of the most at-risk children in the world. – The Toronto Star. (2005, Sept 8). “Half as many Aboriginal children graduate from high school as the rest of the province but twice as many commit suicide” - The Toronto Star. (2005, September 8). Referencing the Fraser Report of 2004, the Lieutenant-Governor James Bartleman tells us that “…aboriginal children lag so far behind that it will take 28 years to close the gap between the numbers of native versus non-native high school graduates.” - The Toronto Star.
