The source of the name “Mosuo people” is an insightful summary of walking marriage which manifests that the man walks (the word “walk” can be said “mo”(摩/摸进去) in Chinese) into the woman’s room at night, and comes out (the word “come” can be said “suo”(梭出去)) at dawn. So we call the people as “Mosuo people”. 1. Adult ceremony When girls are at the age of 13 or 14, there will be an adult ceremony for them. That is a “Wear skirt ritual”. 2. “Guo qi guan”（过七关） After the adult ceremony, the girls must finish a task “过七关”——it means you have to sleep with 7 men during the following 7 nights ,who you may have never met before. They can not walk marriage if the women disagree. 3. They can not walk marriage if the man can not climb the wall to the woman’s room at the first time. If the feelings between the men and women rupture, the men can end walking to the women’s room or the women can hang a man’s shoe in front of her door to show that they are over.
