SAT写作案例——南非首任黑人总统曼德拉　　Mandelain2008PresidentofSouthAfrica 　　NelsonRolihlahlaMandela(Xhosapronunciation:[xo?li??a?aman?de?la]; born18July1918)isaSouthAfricanpoliticianwhoservedasPresident ofSouthAfricafrom1994to1999,thefirstevertobeelectedinafully representativedemocraticelection.BeforebeingelectedPresident, Mandelawasamilitantanti-apartheidactivist,andtheleaderand 　　co-founderofUmkhontoweSizwe,thearmedwingoftheAfrican NationalCongress(ANC).In1962hewasarrestedandconvictedof sabotageandothercharges,andsentencedtolife.Mandelawentonto serve27yearsinprison,spendingmanyoftheseyearsonRobbenIsland. Followinghisreleasefromprisonon11February1990,Mandelaledhis partyinthenegotiationsthatledtotheestablishmentofdemocracyin 　　1994.AsPresident,hefrequentlygaveprioritytoreconciliation,while introducingpoliciesaimedatcombatingpovertyandinequalityinSouth Africa. InSouthAfrica,MandelaisoftenknownasMadiba,hisXhosaclanname; orastata(Xhosa:father).Mandelahasreceivedmorethan250awards overfourdecades. 　　Early life 　　NelsonMandelabelongstoacadetbranchoftheThembudynasty, 　　whichreignsintheTranskeiregionofSouthAfricasEasternCape Province.HewasborninMvezo,asmallvillagelocatedinthedistrictof Umtata.HehasKhoisanancestryonhismothersside.Hispatrilineal great-grandfatherNgubengcuka(whodiedin1832),ruledastheInkosi Enkhulu,orking,oftheThembupeople.Oneofthekingssons,named Mandela,becameNelsonsgrandfatherandthesourceofhissurname.
