First of all, it will introduce the author — Theodore Dreiser and his writing style. Then, it will elaborate on the American Dream in Sister Carrie including the meaning of American Dream, Carrie Meeber’s pursuit of American Dream and her American Dream in different periods. Furthermore, it will explore the social factors and her personal factors which result in Carrie’s broken American Dream.
