It was the Roman Conquest Period. After the withdrawal of the Roman troops, Britain was invaded by the Angles, Saxons and Jutes. By the 7th Century a united kingdom was formed called England. B: Literature: Two divisions Pagan: the oral sagas brought by the Anglo-Saxon. Actually English Literature began with the Anglo-Saxon settlement in England. Christian: the writings influenced by the teaching of the monks with strong religious color.
