physics project thermometer

Different types of thermometer Thermometers are very important to our daily life. We use thermometers to measure temperature. When I was a kid, my mum used to took me to the hospital when I got a fever or not very well. The nurse will put a thermometer into my mouth . She let me hold the thermometer under my tongue and told me no to bite it in order to know whether I really got a fever or not. After I grown up, I noticed that thermometer can measure not only the temperature of humans body, but also the temperature of many other things , for example, the temperature of a liquid, and many uses in the lab. In this project, I’m going to explore on many different types of thermometers and introduce them. Three scales of temperature Fahrenheit (?°F ) Fahrenheit is the temperature scale proposed in 1724 by, and named after, the physicist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit (1686–1736). The Fahrenheit scale was the primary temperature standard for climatic, industrial and medical purposes in some English-speaking countries until the 1960s. In the late 1960s and 1970s, the Fahrenheit scale was replaced by the Celsius scale in most of these countries as part of a standardization called metrication. The Fahrenheit scale is still used in the United States, Jamaica, Palau, Belize, and Liberia for everyday applications. For example, U.S. weather forecasts, food cooking, and freezing temperatures are typically given in degrees Fahrenheit. This is a thermometer with Fahrenheit units on the outer scale and Celsius units on the inner scale Picture from: /wiki/Fahrenheit Celsius ( °C ) Celsius is a scale and unit of measurement for temperature. It is named after the Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius (1701–1744). In 1742 Anders Celsius originally created a reversed version of the modern Celsius temperature scale whereby zero represented the boiling point of water and one hundred represented the freezing point of water. Kelvin ( K ) The kelvin is a unit of measurement for tempera
