No. Observation Advice Corrective action 1-2008 SMOKE DETECTION IN THE VOID SPACE BETWEEN ROOF AND FALSE CEILING The production areas have considerable amount of electric cables in the void space between roof and false ceiling without automatic fire detection. A smouldering fire could spread to large area without getting noticed/detected and thus could render the sprinkler system ineffective in controlling/extinguishing the fire. Advice No.1 In order to have early detection of fire, it is recommended to provide smoke detection system in the void space between roof and false ceiling. The alarm should be transmitted to fire panel and also within the production area to ensure quick response. 1) A freestanding smoke detector with battery (see attached sample) will be installed in the void space between roof and false ceiling. If cable raises smoke in case of fire, it will trigger the freestanding smoke detector to alarm and security control center will be informed to come to the scene to take immediate reaction. 2) We will weekly check the detectors and replace the battery yearly; 3) All freestanding smoke detectors will be installed inside false ceiling in production areas in Aug 30, 2008. Reference: 2-2008 MONITORING TESTING OF FIRE PUMPS OPERATIONS It was observed that the current testing regime includes testing of the fire pumps on monthly basis. The exact cut in pressure for the automatic operation were not immediately known. Advice No.1 1) In line with NFPA requirement, to ensure better reliability, weekly testing of fire pumps for the automatic cut in operation and other parameters is recommended. The electrical pump needs to be run 10 minutes per week. The test results to be recorded to spot deviations. 2) Fire pumps cut in settings for the automatic operations to be displayed near the pumps for the easy reference. 3)The fire pumps also need to be tested once year for quantitative performance i.e., flow pressure and performance needs to be compa
