The Black Mountain poets, sometimes called projectivist poets, were a group of mid-20th century American avant-garde or postmodern poets centered on Black Mountain College.The rise was in the early 1950s, and the major poets included Charles Olson, Denise Levertov, Robert Ducan and Robert Creeley. Black Mountain College It was found in the 1930s as a liberal educational center. It was near Asheville, North Carolina. In the 1950s it became a focus for all dissidents in arts, literature, and matters of academic interest in general. Its life was short that it closed in 1957 after only 24 years. It was experimental by nature and committed to an interdisciplinary approach, attracting a faculty that included many of Americas leading visual artists, composers, poets, and designers.
