Key words：tongzi play, protection,development序 言 僮子戏主要在南通、如皋、如东一带比较流行。它以南通方言进行演唱的，再用锣鼓加以伴奏，唱腔粗犷，唱词简单，虽然它近乎原始的纯朴但是仍然深受广大群众的喜爱。僮子戏经历了一系列的演变：由僮子说唱到僮子串到僮子戏实验剧团到通剧，从而迎来了僮子戏发展的高潮。 然而，僮子戏的并没有盛行多久。城市化和现代化的进程越来越快，电视电影的普及，人们越来越将休闲娱乐时间花在观看电视节目中。另外，VCD、DVD又逐渐进入家庭，国外大片、KTV等多种休闲娱乐方式使得人们有了更多的选择。失去了观众的僮子戏就很难发展起来，如何留住观众、专业人才和创新发展是我们目前所面临的的问题。 僮子戏是传承千古的乡土戏剧，学术价值较高，我们在保护僮子戏的同时也要对其进行开发研究：通过政府的扶持和重视建立起僮子戏保护馆，利用图片、录像等形式，把僮子戏的无形化变为有形化。其次，可以改变僮子戏的演
