Passage 1
When I was in the seventh grade, I was a volunteer in a hospital. I spent most of the time there with Mr. Gillespie. He never had any 21 and nobody seemed to care about his life.
I spent many days holding his hand, talking to him and 22 anything that needed to be done. He became my close friend even though he only responded with a weak smile.
I left for a week to visit my parents. And when I came back, Mr. Gillespie was 23 . I didn’t have the 24 to ask the nurses where he was. I was afraid that they might 25 me that he had died.
