高三英语Module7 SELF CONTROL知识精讲 一. 本周教学内容: Module 7 SELF CONTROL 二. 重难点讲解: 1. control n.[u] power to direct, order or limit 权力,控制 He has no control over his emotions. 他控制不住自己的感情。 She managed to keep control of her car on the ice. 她在冰上开车时,尽力控制住了汽车。 The pilot lost control of the plane. 飞行员失去了对飞机的控制。 be in control of sth 管理,支配(某事) Who is in control of the project? be /get out of control 失去控制 The children are out of control. bring /get sth under control 控制 The fire has been brought under control. [v.](-lled, -lling) have power over (sb./ sth.) 控制,管理 The aircraft is hard to control. 这架飞机难以控制。 I was so angry that I couldn’t control myself, and hit him. 我气得不得了,打了他。 2. addict n.[c] person who is unable to stop taking drugs, or unable to stop doing sth 有瘾的人 a heroin addict 有海洛因毒瘾的人 person who is strongly interested in sth 对某事有强烈兴趣的人 a chess/football addict 棋迷,球迷 be addicted to sth --unable to stop taking or using sth as a habit对某事物有瘾 He became addicted to drugs. 他对药物上瘾了。 --strongly interested in sth as a hobby 对某事有强烈兴趣而成为嗜好 She is addicted to TV soap operas.她沉迷于电视剧。 3. honour [ n.][u] reputation for greatness, good behaviour, 荣誉,名誉 They fight for the honour of their country.他们为祖国的荣誉而战。 an honour to sth/sb 给某人/某事物增光的人或事物 She is an honour to her family.她是她家庭的荣耀。 [v.]honour sb/ sth (with this)--show great respect for sb/sth;向某人致敬,给某人以荣誉 Will you honour me with a visit?如蒙造访荣幸之至。 honourable [adj.]bring or showing honour 光荣的 an honourable person 声誉卓著的人 4. absence [n.][u] being away 缺席,不在某处 His repeated absence from school is worrying.他一再缺课使人担忧。 It happened during/in your absence.那是当你不在的时候发生的。 In the absence of the manager, I shall be in charge.经理不在时由我负责。 absent[adj.] not present at sth, at another place 不在场的,在别处的 He is absent from school/a meeting/work. --not existing, lacking 不存在的,缺少的 Love was absent from his childhood.他童年时代缺少爱。 --showing that one is not really thinking about what is being said or done around one 茫然的,恍惚的 He is absent-minded in class.他上课时心不在焉。 5. fail [v.] be un
