Key points and difficult points: 1). Grasp Comparatives and superlatives with adjectives /adverbs. 2). To write a description of the appearance and personality of a friend. Teaching aids: multi-media Teaching methods: Practicing Task-based Teaching procedures: Step 1 Presentation 1)Ask students, what kind of friend do you want to make? Review vocabulary .e.g What kind of friend do you want to make? I want to make a (an) honest( slim. generous, helpful, humourous, smart, thin, strong, beautiful, handsome, ,energetic patient ,modest , practical ,wise easy –going lovely, pretty, smart, big eyes, square face)friend. 2)Ask students, why do you make such a friend? 3)Review phrases eg. She(He) is (not) willing to help me with my homework.(keep secrets, make me happy, give a seat to old people in need, share my joy/sadness, say a bad word about anyone) Step 2 Practice 1)Ask the students to describe the appearance and personality of a friend in the class , the other students guess who he/she is. Then teach the students how to write the description about a friend. Learn the structure of the letter : introduction(say who your best friend is) ,main body(describe his /her appearance and personality) and conclusion .(describe his/her future plans Step 3 Grammar 1) Tell students that we use adj. to describe people and things. Explain that we can put an adj. before a noun or after a linking verb. e.g. She has long hair.
