JASPER COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MINUTES – FEBRUARY 8, 2010 PRESENT: Kathleen Snooks, James Gardner, Randy Horton, Pamela Williams, Michael Hubbard, Patricia Walls and Priscilla Fraser ABSENT: Alina Hamilton-Clark and Berty Riley 1. CALL TO ORDER – Michael Hubbard, Board Chairperson, called this regular meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in the District Office Boardroom, Ridgeland, S.C. 2. ROLL CALL ESTABLISHMENT OF A QUORUM – 7P/2A 3. NOTIFICATION OF NEWS MEDIA – The following news media were notified of the date, time, place and agenda of this meeting: Jasper Sun, Hardeeville Today, Beaufort Gazette, Savannah Morning News, The Gullah Sentinel, WSAV, WTOC and WJCL. 4. INVOCATION – The Invocation was led by Kathleen Snooks in the absence of the Board Chaplain. 5. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE – The pledge to the flag was recited by the Board and audience. 6. SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS – Mr. Heath recognized Dr. Al Arbee, Dr. Rebecca Cooper, Dr. Patricia O’Connor, Sandra Mack-Huff, Anthony Garzilli (Jasper Sun) and community members present. 7. PUBLIC COMMENT(S) – NONE 8. *APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Mr. Hubbard stated that the Agenda needed to be amended by pulling the following items: 10.1 - GCA Services Update (They are not ready to give their report) 11.3 - Budget Transfer Request (More information is needed) 11.4 - Request to Participate in Athletics (More information is needed) Mr. Hubbard added that the Personnel Update (11.5) should only reflect items (A) Resignation and (B) Termination because there is no item “C” as noted on the Agenda. A motion was made by Priscilla Fraser and seconded by Patricia Walls to approve the agenda as amended. THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY 7-0. MINUTES – FEBRUARY 8, 2010 PAGE TWO 9. ADOPTION OF MINUTES – JANUARY 11, 2010, JANUARY 14, 2010 JANUARY 25, 2010 – Mr. Hubbard entertained a motion for the adoption of these minutes.
