National Marine Fisheries Service Alaska Map Collection, 1889-1928 MS 80 6 map folders Processed by: Staff 69 maps and charts Revised by: Connie Hamann and Jacki Swearingen, June 2014 ACQUISITION: Maps #1-61 were given, on permanent loan, to the Alaska Historical Library from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Auke Bay Laboratory near Juneau, Alaska. The maps were received in April of 1984 through the cooperation of Dr. George Snyder, Laboratory Director. No accession number. An additional 8 original, Alaskan maps, #62-69, were donated to the Alaska Historical Library from the Alaska Fisheries Science Center, NMFS, Auke Bay Laboratory. The maps were received in May of 1996 through the cooperation of Dr. Michael Dahlberg, Laboratory Director. Acc. no. 1996-015. ACCESS: The collection is unrestricted. However, the donor requests that copied material from this collection be credited to the U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service Collection. COPYRIGHT: Request for permission to publish or reproduce material from the collection should be discussed with the Librarian. PROCESSING: This collection has been described at the item level. Maps #1-61 have been filmed onto 12 sheets of microfiche. The original maps have been placed in map folders in an order that corresponds to the microfiche sheets. The additional 8 maps, received in 1996, were placed in the order of the inventory received from the Alaska Fisheries Science Center. The maps were added to this collection as #62-69 and placed in a map folder. HISTORICAL NOTE This donation of maps and charts was primarily prepared by personnel of the U.S. Fish Commission and U.S. Bureau of Fisheries, predecessor agencies of the National Marine Fisheries Service.
