BLOCK C SECTORAL/ECOSYSTEMS PLANNING Introduction Recently, planners and developers realize the need to conduct detailed planning of ecosystem such as forest, agriculture and coastal marine which were lumped before in the broad categories of the general land use component. Detailed planning of such ecosystem is important in their rational location. Delineation of restricted uses, and for purposes of natural resources management and conservation (IEMSDP, 1997). The added features of sustainable land use planning compared to comprehensive land use planning by Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) are as follows: a) preparation of an ecological profile as the basis for land use preparation; b) integration of sustainable development principles and parameters; c) adoption of other tools and methods in land use analysis; d) puts environmental management and natural resources on equal footing with socio-economic constraints; and, e) consists of long term physical framework planning in as much as sustainable development is also concerned with future generations. Objectives This portion is aimed to: discuss thoroughly the guidelines in various ecosystems planning present how data/information required for LUP are gathered in each ecosystem differentiate the ecosystems plan format with CLUP incorporate community-based land use planning procedures to give stakeholders the chance to chart their own lives MODULE C1 GUIDELINES FOR AGRICULTURE LAND USE PLANNING Steps in the Preparation of Agricultural Land Use Planning EMB-DENR (1996) outlines the seven steps in the preparation of a land use plan. These are as follows: Setting of goals and objectives This is to define what the region aims to achieve and serve as the basis in establishing land use decisions.
