英语语法--形容词、副词专题讲座 主讲人：胡卫卫 E-mail:hwwhb@163.com 做表语的形容词 Ill, well, afraid, alive, alone, ashamed, asleep, awake, aware, conscious, unable…形容词在句中只能做表语，或多做表语。 做表语的形容词 The baby is ill. He is an ill baby. (x) 但须注意：以a-开头的形容词若有状语修饰，可以作前置定语。 A very ashamed girl The half-asleep man 作定语的形容词 only, mere, exact, particular, chief, total, former, spoken, elder, eldest, medical, social, woolen, electric…形容词在句中只作定语，或多作定语。 作定语的形容词 Is that the only reason you can find? That reason is only. (x) 可跟that从句的形容词 Sure, sorry, sad, pleased, happy, proud, surprised, astonished, disappointed, annoyed…等形容词后可跟that从句，that在从句中常可省略。 可跟that从句的形容词 I’m glad (that) you like it. He is sure (that) I’m right. 容易误用的形容词 She is very nervous standing before so many audience. (x) She is very nervous standing before such a large audience. 容易误用的形容词 That city has more population than last year. (x) That city has a larger population than last year. 容易误用的形容词 There was great snow in Changchun last night. (x) There was heavy snow in Changchun last night. 容易误用的形容词 The price of gold is expensive. (x) The price of gold is high. 定语形容词的前置与后置 形容词作定语，一般单词前置，短语后置，但修饰some/ any/ every/ no +body/ one/ thing/ where构成的复合词，形容词后置。 Let’s go somewhere quiet. 定语形容词的前置与后置 但须注意： 1)少数形容词即可前置又可后置。如：enough, available. There are no available cars. There are no cars available. 定语形容词的前置与后置 2)有些形容词前置和后置的意义不同。 The present chairman of the board is John Green. Among the leaders present was George Bush. 定语形容词的前置与后置 Jack is a responsible man. The man responsible was fired. It was a proper question. The question proper has not been answered. 前置定语的排列顺序 前置定语形容词的排列顺序由它们和被修饰名词之间的关系决定，关系密切的靠近被修饰词，关系稍远的离之较远。 前置定语的排列顺序 1）一般描述的形容词 2）表示大小、长短、高低的形容词。 3）表示形状的形容词 4）表示年龄、新旧的形容词 5）表示颜色的形容词 前置定语的排列顺序 6）表示国籍、地区和出处的形容词 7）表示物质、材质的形容词 8）表示用途、类别的形容词 前置定语的排列顺序 The beautiful white silk dress The short old American professor Their fine large red Egyptian woolen carpet 名词与同根形容词作定语辨析 Stone bridge/ stony heart Heart disease/ hearty welcome Silver medal/ silvery
