With EFD you can use your existing 3D CAD geometry and solid model information including features and parameters to help you simulate your designs in real-world conditions. By being able to use existing data as the basis of analysis you can save an enormous amount of time. Unlike traditional CFD codes, the process of transferring your geometry is quite effortless. Some CFD codes have been known to hang-up during the transfer process or require long periods of time (in excess of a week) to bring in the geometry. EFD also offers great time-saving features such as automatic detection of fluid regions. Most CFD programs require you to create phantom objects to represent the fluid (empty) regions – an extremely time-consuming process since you need to identify each region manually and then create geometry to fill it. EFD automatically differentiates between the solid and fluid regions and automatically creates the fluid domain. As a Pro/Toolkit application, EFD.Pro enables you to analyze and optimize designs directly inside Pro/ENGINEER. Unlike other CFD programs, EFD.Pro interacts directly with the native 3D CAD data defined by Pro/E – with no translation or copies in order to keep pace with ongoing design changes.
