Mostly used for painting car parts, bike parts and any vehicle related parts. It was developed in the 1940’s by Harold Ransburg. It is one of the fastest, and most effective ways to spray paint. How does it use static electricity? The paint is either charged positively or negatively. It doesn’t matter what charge it has, what matters is that it needs to be charged. The object getting sprayed with the electrostatic spray paint is neutral, and is grounded so the charged paint is able to attract to the object getting painted. Because a charged object attract to a neutral object the paint can easily coat an object and apply even coats. The paint can even turn in a 180 degree to get to the neutral object. What is the setup? The workpiece may be delivered to the coating booth or hangers in any fashion, most commonly using either hands or pliers. After passing through the booth, or tank, and getting coated, the workpiece either goes into a baking oven or out into the open air to allow the paint to cure on the part. In spray coating, many different spray nozzles may be used depending on the desired paint, consistency (meaning how well the substance, in this case paint, holds together), and the shape of the workpiece.
