Among the researches, some are from the perspective of culture, and some are from the angle of aesthetics. This paper will analyze the English poetry “A Red Red Rose”written by Robert Burns from the perspective of stylistics. Stylistics is the nature of a combination of literature and linguistic cross discipline. It is suitable for students who are interested in literature and linguistics study. Simply put, stylistics can help students understand the profound connotation and writing skills of the works. At the same time, it can stimulate students to develop the ability of critical reading and try to set up their own opinions. So it is important to analyze the English poetry from the perspective of stylistics. We will discuss this poetry from the perspectives of phonological and syntax. Key Words: A Red Red Rose, stylistics, Robert Burns 1.Introduction “A Red, Red Rose” is one of the most famous songs that Robert Burns wrote for this project and first published in 1794. Burns wrote it as a traditional ballad, four verses of four lines each. Robert Burns was a Scottish poet and lyricist. He was widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and was celebrated worldwide. He was the best known of the poets who have written in the Scots language, although much of his writing was also in English and a light Scots dialect, accessible to an audience beyond Scotland. He also wrote in standard English, and in these writings his political or civil commentary is often at its bluntest. He was regarded as a pioneer of the Romanticism, and after his death he became a great source of inspiration to the founders of both liberalism and soc
