abstract
This paper is concerned with a one-dimensional compressible micropolar fluid model with initial data whose behaviors at far fields x → ±∞ are different. Motivated by the relationship between micropolar fluid model and Navier–Stokes system, we can prove that the solutions to the one-dimensional compressible micropolar fluid model tend time-asymptotically to a viscous contact wave which is constructed from a contact discontinuity solution of the Riemann problem on Euler system. This result is proved by an elaborate elementary energy estimates.

1. Introduction
1.1. The problem
The model of micropolar fluids, introduced by Eringen [11], has received considerable attention in the last two decades. It can describe many phenomena appeared in a large number of complex fluids such as the suspensions, animal blood, liquid crystals which cannot be characterized appropriately by Navier–Stokes system. For more background, we refer to [12,20] and references therein. Let v, u, ω and θ denote, respectively, the specific volume, velocity, microrotation velocity and temperature of the fluid in the Lagrangian coordinates. Then the problem we consider has the formulation as follows [29]
