The Need of Networking 電腦建網的需要 1.1 A computer network is a group of ( computers ) and ( peripherals )　connected together.電腦網絡是由一組 ( 電 腦 ) 和 ( 外 圍 設 備 ) 組成。 1.2 Computer network can be linked up by cables, telephone lines, modems and other communication links.電腦網絡可以由電纜、電話線、調制解調器及其他通信鏈聯結起來。 1.3 Networking enables the following:電腦網絡為用戶提供以下三種好處： ( Sharing ) data and information.( 共 用 ) 數據和信息。 Sharing computing ( resources ).共用電腦 ( 資 源 )。 Efficient ( communication ) .提高 ( 通 信 ) 效率。 1.4 Sharing data and information 共用數據和信息 Data and information are stored in different computer and can be shared to different user.用者可以共用存貯在不同電腦內的數據及資訊。 1.5 Sharing computing resources 共用電腦資源 In a network, user can share ( computer software ), printer, modems and ( storage devices ).電腦網絡可以共用 ( 電 腦 軟 件 ) 、打印機、調制解調器及 ( 存 貯 裝 置 ) 等。 It can help organization reduce cost and ( save space ) .它可以為機構減低成本及 ( 節 省 空 間 ) 。 1.6 Efficient communication 提高通信效率 It can save user time and cost in the communication.它可以為用者節省時間及減少成本。 2. Computer Network 電腦網絡 2.1 There are two major type of computer networks: 電腦網絡可以分為兩大類： ( Local Area Network ) LAN( 區 域 網 絡 ) ( Wide Area Network ) WAN( 廣 泛 地 區 網 絡 ) 2.2 A ( server ) is a computer or device that manage network resources. ( 侍 服 器 ) 是一個電腦或裝置用作管理網絡資源。 Servers also performs one specific task (e.g. file server, printer server , network server) and will not perform other task. 侍服器多數負責一個特定工作 (例如檔案侍服器、打印機侍服器、網絡侍服器) 而且不會執行其他工作。 2.3 A ( terminal ) is a personal computer or device connected to a mainframe.
