A graduation Ceremony is a custom which takes place when students graduate from a school. 毕业典礼是学生毕业离校时举行的一个仪式。 （1）which引导的一个定语从句，修饰其先行词custom，在这个定语从句中，which作主语，when引导的一个状语从句，修饰动词take place. （2）take place.发生，举行（不及物动词） 如：这件事是什么时候发生的？ When did the thing take place? 这个故事发生在很久很久以前。 This story took place long long ago. 2. Then each graduate will receive a piece of paper called a diploma . It shows that the student has successfully completed a course or has passed an examination. 到那时每位毕业生都将收到被称为毕业文凭的一张纸，它表明学生已经成功地完成了学科或通过了考试。 （1）each graduate. each +单数名词，表示每一个……，作主语时，谓语动词用单数形式。 如：每个学生都有自己的兴趣爱好。 Each student has his own hobby. 每个孩子在新年中都收到了一份礼物。 Each child receives a present during the new year. （2）called diploma作后置定语，修饰前面的名词paper. It shows...中的it为形式主语，真正的主语是后面that引导的主语从句。 如：它表明了我们已经赢得这场比赛。 It shows that we have won the game. 3. The graduation ceremony is exciting because it marks the end of a period in a student’s school life. 毕业典礼是令人激动的，因为它标志着一个学生学校生活的结束。 mark the end of...标志……的结束[来 如：这场大雪标志着秋天的结束。 The heavy snow marks the end of autumn. 4. It is also sad, because the time they spent with friends will come to an end. 它也是伤感的，因为与朋友相处的时间将要结束了。 come to an end.结束。 如：期末考试结束了，同学们高高兴兴地回家了。 The final examination came to an end, the students went home happily. 5.
